I hold a ‘Prabhakar’
qualification in playing the pakhawaj,
which required 6 years of formal training,
from 1987 to 1993. I have had the experience
of accompanying dance performances by
major astistes, such as my Guru, Pandit
Birju Maharaj ji, Saswati Sen
and many others.
For the past 200 years
my ancestors have been renowned classical
musicians, specializing in tabla and Pankhawaj,
with the tradition being passed down through
since early childhood; Pandit Gama Maharaj,
who taught me to play Tabla and Pakhawaj
and Guru Ram Kishor Das ji of Delhi. |
